6.5–7.8
Moderately soft to moderately hard water with sufficient calcium and minerals for molting.
68–78°F (20–26°C)
Up to 3 cm
Peaceful nano fish, snails, and other compatible dwarf shrimp. Species-only tanks are ideal for maximizing breeding.

Neocaridina davidi
Atyidae
Taiwan and Southeast Asia; selectively bred in the aquarium trade
Highly social; best kept in groups and colonies.
Allow natural biofilm and algae to form, supplemented with quality shrimp food, algae wafers, blanched vegetables, and mineral-rich foods.
Live-bearer; females carry fertilized eggs beneath their abdomen until fully developed shrimplets hatch.
Breeding is relatively easy when water parameters are stable. Females carry eggs under their abdomen for approximately 3–4 weeks before releasing miniature shrimplets.
Temperature: 68–78°F (20–26°C), pH: 6.5–7.8, with stable GH and KH suitable for healthy molting.
Molting problems, stress, and sudden deaths can occur from unstable water parameters, copper exposure, or insufficient minerals.
Very peaceful and non-aggressive.
Peaceful, active grazers that spend much of their time searching surfaces for biofilm and algae. They are social and do well in groups.
Black Shrimp are a selectively bred color variety of Neocaridina davidi. They thrive in mature, planted aquariums with stable water parameters, plenty of biofilm, hiding places, and adequate mineral availability. They are active grazers and can reproduce readily under suitable conditions.
