Slender, laterally compressed body with metallic silver or copper sheen. Small, transparent fins with subtle hints of orange or red on the dorsal and caudal fins. Males are slightly more brightly colored with slender bodies; females are rounder and paler.

Omnivorous; feeds on high-quality flakes, micro pellets, frozen foods, and live foods such as daphnia, brine shrimp, and micro worms. Occasional blanched vegetables like zucchini or spinach support health and enhance coloration.
