Iridescent blue body with a neon-like shine along the lateral line. Transparent fins with slight yellow or reddish tints in males. Laterally compressed body, forked tail. Males are slightly larger and more colorful; females are smaller and less vivid.

Omnivorous; feeds on high-quality flakes, pellets, and frozen foods. Supplement with live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms. Occasional blanched vegetables are beneficial for balanced nutrition.
