Slender, torpedo-shaped body with a pearly iridescent sheen and subtle horizontal stripes. Fins are mostly transparent with slight orange or red tinges. Males are slightly slimmer and more intensely colored; females are rounder and paler.

Omnivorous; feeds on high-quality flakes, micro pellets, frozen foods, and live foods such as daphnia, brine shrimp, and microworms. Occasional blanched vegetables like zucchini or spinach can supplement their diet and enhance coloration.
