Streamlined, robust body with bright metallic blue and turquoise hues. Fins are edged with electric blue and may show yellow or orange highlights. The dorsal fin is elongated, starting a quarter from the body front and continuing to the tail.

Peaceful, community-oriented, can be kept singly or in pairs. Mixed gender pairs do best; may form loose groups in large tanks.
Feed 1β2 times daily; mix high-quality flakes/pellets with regular treats of live/frozen foods and occasional vegetable supplements for best health and color.
Substrate spawner; pairs clean rocks and lay eggs there. Both parents guard eggs and fry until the young are free-swimming.
Pairs lay up to 150β300 eggs on flat stones. Eggs hatch in 2β3 days, fry become free-swimming after about a week. Feed fry infusoria, powdered flake or newly hatched brine shrimp.
