Similar to the Delta Tail Betta but with more pronounced fin branching and spread. Exhibits a wider tail display compared to the Delta Tail Betta.
Super Delta Tail Bettas are a refined variant of the Delta Tail variety, characterized by a broader tail spread—up to just under 180 degrees. Unlike the Halfmoon, which reaches a full 180-degree fan shape, the Super Delta is just slightly narrower but still elegant and dramatic. Their tails are typically symmetrical and spread like a fan when flared. They come in a wide range of color morphs including metallics, pastels, and marbled patterns. Their fins are broad and flowing, though more controlled and less prone to damage than Crowntails or Halfmoons.
3 to 5 years
High-quality pellets, live/frozen daphnia, mosquito larvae, brine shrimp, and bloodworms
Super Delta Tail Bettas are a wonderful balance between beauty and practicality. Their broad, fan-like tails give them a striking presence without the fragility associated with more extreme fin types. They’re suitable for both beginners and intermediate aquarists who are ready to provide attentive care and a peaceful, well-maintained environment. With the right conditions and a gentle hand, Super Delta Bettas reward keepers with vibrant displays and interactive behavior. They are also a great option for breeding projects and selective lineage programs.

Territorial; males are aggressive, females less so and can be kept in sororities with caution
Feed 2–3 small portions daily. Use protein-rich pellets as a staple, and supplement 2–3 times weekly with high-quality frozen or live food such as daphnia, brine shrimp, and bloodworms. Avoid overfeeding, and consider fasting once per week.
Bubble nester; male cares for eggs until fry are free swimming
To breed Super Delta Bettas, set up a separate breeding tank with a sponge filter, heater (maintained at 78–80°F), and floating plants or bubble wrap. Condition the male and female separately with protein-rich foods. Introduce the female in a clear container and observe the male’s bubble nest activity. Once the female shows vertical bars and signs of readiness, she can be released. Spawning involves the male wrapping the female, collecting eggs, and tending the nest. Remove the female post-spawning to prevent aggression. Fry hatch in about 36 hours and become free swimming in 3–5 days. Feed them infusoria or freshly hatched baby brine shrimp.
pH: 6.5–7.5, Temperature: 76–82°F, Hardness: 5–20 dGH, Ammonia & Nitrites: 0 ppm, Nitrates: <20 ppm
Common issues include fin rot (due to large fins), swim bladder problems, ich, velvet, and constipation. Ensure clean water, avoid sharp tank décor, and quarantine all new additions to prevent disease.
Can be aggressive, especially towards other male Betta fish. Best kept alone or in a species-specific setup.
Super Delta Tail Bettas are intelligent, interactive, and territorial. Males are especially combative toward one another and should be housed separately. They are visually responsive and can be trained to perform tricks, follow fingers, and recognize feeding routines. Their vibrant personalities and energetic swimming patterns make them fun to watch. Females are less aggressive and can coexist in sororities if introduced properly and provided ample space and hiding places. They prefer low-current environments to avoid damage to their broad tails.
The Super Delta Tail Betta is a stunning variation of Betta splendens, prized for its dramatic, fan-like tail that spreads just shy of 180 degrees. This tail structure is ideal for those who love the beauty of Halfmoons but want a slightly more resilient fin type. These Bettas are energetic, highly intelligent, and known for their ability to interact with their keepers. They thrive in stable environments with low currents, gentle filtration, and regular feeding schedules. When housed properly, they can be a bold centerpiece in a nano or mid-sized freshwater aquarium. Their manageable fin size makes them less prone to injury and disease, especially in comparison to more elaborate finned varieties. Super Delta Bettas are a perfect mix of aesthetic grace and hardy constitution—ideal for aquarists seeking elegance and personality in one fish.
